West Jet Flies to Liberia

Canadian low-fare air carrier WestJet Airlines announced Sunday that it will launch non-stop seasonal flights from Toronto to the Daniel Oduber International Liberia Airport (LIR), Costa Rica's northern gateway to the Guancaste province's Pacific Coast and Nicoya Peninsula. 

The newly expanded Liberia Airport has experienced more traffic up to Sept 30 this year than all of last year.  And depsite being the slowest month of the year for travel, during October 2012, 22.752 passengers traveled through the airport, 43.4% more than in October 2011 (15,867 passengers), and 53% more than in October 2010 (14,867 passengers).

Popular beach villages like Hermosa, Coco, Flamingo, and Tamarindo - which just ranked on Trip Advisor's Top 3 Most Beautiful Beaches in Central America - are only 15 - 45 minutes from the Liberia Airport.  

WestJet stated that Monday, October 29, 2012, it will commence twice-weekly non-stop seasonal service from Toronto Pearson International Airport. to Liberia, Costa Rica, with the departure of the first flight at 9:10 a.m.
