On Sept 14, 2012 the World Travel Awards (WTA) recognized two Tamarindo Hotels - the JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort and Spa and the Westin Resort and Spa Conchal - as the best in the Central America and Mexico Region. Both Tamarindo Hotels enjoy the highest quality amenities including signature golf courses and beachfront spas.
The JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort and Spa, located 15 minutes south of Tamarindo at the 4,600 acre Hacienda Pinilla beachfront golf resort, took the top prize in the Luxury Hotel category. The JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort sits on just one of the mutliple unspoiled beaches that run along the 3 miles of coastline inside Hacienda Pinilla. This fabulous eco-resort also offers equestrian facilities, tennis courts, fitness center, nature trails, some of Costa Rica's most famous surf breaks and several luxury residential communities.
The Westin Resort and Spa Conchal, situated just 15 minutes north of Tamarindo at the stunning beachfront golf resort Reserva Conchal, won the WTA's Leading Family Resort award. The Westin Resort and Spa Conchal is nestled in a pristine white sand cove and boasts access to a championship Robert Trent Jones II golf course that ranked on Conde Nast's 2012 list of top foreign golf courses. The spectacular 2,600 acre Reserva Conchal property also offers tennis courts, restaurants, boutiques, fitness center and several five star residential communities.
The World Travel Awards (WTA) is the most prestigious awards program in the global travel industry, so it is a true honor for two Tamarindo Hotels to be recognized as top in their fields. The winners are decided by travel agents from all over the world and the WTA celebrates excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.
The WTA awards program has been referred to as ‘Oscars of the travel industry’ by the global media, as it highlights those travel brands that have made the greatest contribution to the industry over the past year.
Graham E. Cooke, President & Founder of WTA, emphasized the depth and quality of the travel and tourism sector across the Caribbean and the Americas.
“Our winners are also drawn from the breadth of the Caribbean and the Americas, reflecting the strength and depth of the travel and tourism sector in the regions. I am sure these organizations will fare strongly in our Grand Final, which takes place in New Delhi, India on 12 December 2012,” he said.
The WTA was first launched in 1993 to recognize excellence in the global travel and tourism industry. Now celebrating its 19th anniversary, the WTA is considered to be the highest achievement that a Tamarindo Hotel could hope to receive.
